Private & Premium Transport Options

For convenience, comfort, and speed, especially during the busy summer months, many guests choose professional private transport services. These options are particularly easy to arrange directly from Villa la Madonnina.

Taxi and Limousine Services:

  • Taxis along the coast are an excellent choice for door-to-door convenience, though they are a premium service.
  • We recommend local, reliable drivers like Giovanni Benvenuto (Phone: +39 334 3078342, Email: info@benvenutolimos.com) or Gennaro Rispoli (Phone: +39 089 874370), both based in nearby Praiano, ensuring prompt and knowledgeable service.

Taxi Boats:

  • In the summer, a taxi boat is often the fastest and most spectacular way to reach key destinations like Amalfi and Positano.
  • Convenience: If the waves are calm, a taxi boat can pick you up directly from the platform below Villa la Madonnina! Otherwise, they depart from nearby Marina di Praia.
  • Contact: Call La Sibilla (Phone: +39 334 3078344 or +39 089 874365 or email: info@lasibilla.org) from Marina di Praia for arrangements.

Driving and Parking on the Coast

Driving the famous Amalfitana road is an iconic experience, offering stunning views at every turn. However, due to the narrow, winding nature of the road and limited parking, we recommend planning ahead.

  • Car Recommendation: If you choose to rent a car, we highly recommend a smaller model to easily navigate the tight curves and narrow sections, truly mastering the road like a local.
  • Parking Tips for Key Destinations: Finding a space can be challenging, but here are the best options:
    • Marina di Praia: Fee parking is available along the road leading down to the valley. There is also a large valet parking at the base of the valley.
    • Amalfi: Fee parking is located at the main square, near the water, and a larger area is available behind the mole at the end of the port.
    • Positano: Look for the last parking garages/areas at the lowest point of the valley before the road begins to ascend the hill again, marked “Positano centro”, but there are many other parking areas coming down the hill as well.
    • Ravello: If you come up the road to Ravello just follow the signs to the center of town which will lead you directly to the parking area (attention: on Tuesdays the parking is closed because of the farmer’s market taking place in it; in this case you follow the road to the left through the tunnel and use the parking garage near the concert hall).
  • Scooter Rental: Many consider renting a scooter in nearby Praiano the absolute best way to explore the coast, offering unmatched agility and easier parking access. If you are not an experienced scooter driver we recommend to get yourself some briefing before you start the adventure.

Public Transport & Sea Routes

For a budget-friendly and authentic local experience, public transport connects all the main towns and villages along the Amalfi Coast from Salerno to Sorrento and even Naples.

  • Local and SITA Buses:

    • SITA Buses: Offer frequent service connecting all major towns. Tickets must be purchased in advance at a local bar or shop near the bus stop (e.g., “Bar del Sole” opposite the church in Praiano).
    • Local Buses: Connect different parts of Praiano and Positano, and tickets for these can usually be bought directly on the bus.
    • Nearest Bus Stop: The closest bus stop to Villa la Madonnina is conveniently located immediately after the first tunnel (about 300 meters / 1000 feet) when exiting the villa and turning left. Check with the helpful tourist office in Praiano for the latest timetables.
  • Regular Boat Services:

    • Between May and October, regular boat service operates between coastal towns like Amalfi, Positano, and Salerno.
    • Island Access: The island of Capri is easily accessible by year-round boat service from Sorrento, or seasonally from Amalfi and Positano. Check our Excursions guide for more details on day trips.
